Changes and amendments to legislation happen more often that people realise. The House of Lords introduces new Statues every month.

Law is heavily based on rule books that are thoroughly absorbed by solicitors and barristers throughout their career pathway.
If you are looking to work within the legal sector as a legal representative, then ideally you should try to become familiary with these books as early as you can in your studies and/or training. Aim to gain access either via a library or a chambers if possible.
The Red Book, officially known as 'The Family Court Practice' is issued every year covering all of the necessary resources for practicing/representing in the Family Court.
The Red Book contains:
Up-to-date case law.
New and amended legislation.
Practice Directions.
Guidance.
New laws that the 2022 edition includes are:
Domestic Abuse Act 2021
Divorce, Dissolution and Separation Act 2020
The White Book, officially known as 'Civil Procedure' contains all essential resources for Civil litigation with regards to the Civil Procedure Rules. This includes any type of civil claim in a High Court or County Court. We have included a link to the Civil Procedure Rules (CPRs) in our article called "Procedures and Processes" as this is where the Court's Case Management Powers are set out, as well as Service of Court Documents, Responding to Court Documents, considerations of Vulnerable Parties, and Expert Evidence procedures.
