    Assessments can feature in Family Law, Criminal Law and Negligence Claims. But the Judge's permission must be given to rely on Assessment(s) as evidence.

    Psychological testing, based on psychometric science, is often used in court to aid judges in making legal decisions that profoundly affect people's lives.  Psychologists' work focuses on understanding and improving human judgment processes, especially among trained experts, and improving forensic experts’ judgments in particular. 


    Assessments for Cognitive Functioning are considered by Courts, and can be permitted in full or sometimes questioning by either party in a case  is restricted regarding an assessment.  An assessment of Cognitive Functioning is often accompanied by other forms of assessment, such as Adaptive Functioning.  Both Adaptive Functioning and Intellectual Functioning assessments are required for formal diagnosis of conditions such as intellectual disability.
